Conference and Research Funds
Presenting you work at conferences nationally and internationally is an important part of your experience as a UCL researcher: it can provide invaluable experience in communicating your research to your academic communities and wider audiences; and the experience of applying for funding to cover your conference costs, and making the case for investment in your research and its dissemination, can also be useful experience for working in academia or other roles in the research world and beyond.
There may also be times when you need financial assistance to meet unforeseen but necessary research expenses, for example for travel to a lab or archive, or for fieldwork. You may also come across opportunities to undertake additional specialist training outside UCL.
Funding for such activities is available at UCL through a variety of sources, depending on the department in which you are based. In considering how to fund these activities you should first discuss the matter with your Supervisory Team or Departmental Administrator who will be able to let you know about any funding available locally, as well as opportunities within your discipline (for example from learned societies).
You should then investigate whether your Faculty or School also holds funding which you can access. Below are links by Faculty to assist you in finding this information. If there is no web link for your Faculty, then please contact the administrator indicated:
