A rush of blood to the head
This image was produced using data from two types of MRI scan, performed at Great Ormond Street hospital. One was a 'T1-weighted' scan, which produces a detailed anatomical visualisation of the subject's brain, head and neck. The second was a Magnetic Resonance Angiography scan, which depicts the larger arteries feeding the brain (shown here in red). These techniques can be used to study changes in both the structure and perfusion of the brain in a range of pathologies.
